First Psychology is committed to protecting your privacy while using this site. Should we ask you to fill in personal information about yourself, it will only be used in accordance with this privacy statement. We may amend this policy from time to time by updating this page. If we hold your details on our mailing list, we will write to you to let you know when we update our privacy policy. This policy is effective from 5 February 2024.
Collection of information
We collect a range of information from you when you complete our contact forms. We request this information to help us process your queries and bookings with First Psychology. We will retain this information for booking and administration purposes only - to enable us to process your relationship with First Psychology and we may email you in relation to your appointments / practitioner.
We also collect information when you complete our electronic mailings sign up forms. We use this information to help us understand your needs so we can send you electronic mailings that are most relevant to you. You will receive a confirmation email from us when opting in to electronic mailings. You will only be entered onto our mailing lists if you confirm your wish to opt in. Our electronic mailing list is stored by a third party provider, which is GDPR compliant.
Electronic mailings signup forms: First Psychology may use your contact details to send you newsletters, hints and tips, information about courses and events we are involved with, competitions and offers, and further information about our centres or services that may be of interest. We will NOT share your information with third parties with the exception of individuals and companies who are contracted to carry out specific tasks on our behalf. These individuals and companies are subject to the same criteria for keeping your data safe and it will only be used for the purposes of fulfilling their contracted services.
Online payment processing: when you make an online payment with us, your personal details (not payment information) will be passed via a cart program to our nominated card processing company who collect your card details securely. The cart program stores a small amount of data temporarily on its hard disks for operational reasons only. There are no circumstances under which the cart program would pass on customer data to anyone other than First Psychology. The card processing company is responsible for collecting your details securely and processing the payments. At no time will personal information be stored on First Psychology's servers during this process.
How we use cookies: A cookie is a small file that is automatically stored on your computer's hard drive, with your permission. We use cookies to analyse web traffic to our sites and to analyse which pages are being visited. This helps us improve our website. We only use this information for statistical purposes.
Cookies do not provide us with access to your computer or any information about you, other than the data you choose to share with us.
You can choose to accept or decline cookies, although most web browsers will automatically accept cookies. You can however modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer, but you may not get the full benefit of our sites if you do this.
Google Analytics: A very popular tool used to analyse sites usage and traffic, it helps us refine the site content and tailor it to meet user needs.
Google Adwords: We use Google Adwords to place adverts about our services on the web. When you complete a contact form via a Google Adwords link, the information you enter will be treated in the same way as if you are completing our website contact form, however you should be aware that information is gathered by Google and provided to us for statistical purposes. We will not receive any additional personal details about you other than the information you have chosen to provide on the form.
Online therapy platform: If engaging in online therapy with First Psychology, we will not, under any circumstances, record any sessions without the explicit prior agreement of the client. The online therapy platforms used by our practitioners are all managed by external providers which may be based outside the UK. The services include end-to-end encryption for all meetings held on the platforms.
